Summary

Digitalisation of dated MEP systems using Point Cloud survey and photogrammetry to support planned factory refurbishment to enhance site efficiency and facilitate remediation works in partnership with Birmingham-based firm Parametrix.

Project

YourCAD provides MEP specialised services to support RVTParametrix’s in-house scan to BIM process. This particular project was an existing factory build that included dated MEP systems. The intent was for the building to be refurbished to allow an increase in efficiency and remediation works using a captured Building Information Model (BIM) of the existing infrastructure.

From the Point Cloud data provided from RVTParametrix’s specialised survey capturing services, YourCAD were tasked with replicating the mechanical and electrical elements in a digital form to a high degree of accuracy. Although many services were not identifiable due to the age of the building and a lack of schematic and as-built drawing information, we were able to identify the majority of the systems from the Point Cloud accuracy.

Collaboration software, such as Cintoo, was used to confirm model accuracy and for deeper evaluation using the photogrammetry from the survey. This allowed browser interfacing alongside the model development and VR immersion. A site visit was also conducted to confirm any outstanding queries from the model capture.
